Coming from a\u003cbr\u003elyric sung on album closer “Write Lightly”—a narrative about the importance\u003cbr\u003eof self-expression in writing being scrubbed away by “professional”\u003cbr\u003econcerns—many of the characters singer\/bassist Mondal fleshed out here\u003cbr\u003eare outcasts, marginalized by society and turned into fanatics for a\u003cbr\u003ecornucopia of specific causes.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe visceral songwriting on You Say I Romanticize features an equally visceral\u003cbr\u003emusical approach. Sweeping Promises brought live drummer Spenser Gralla\u003cbr\u003einto the recording sessions to give the songs a similar urgency to their live\u003cbr\u003eshow. The frenzy of its execution also materializes in Mondal’s vocal\u003cbr\u003eperformances.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA shadow side exists along with Sweeping Promises’ love of their artistic\u003cbr\u003ecommunity—borne of weirdos channeling their “outcast” status into vibrant\u003cbr\u003eart and punk rock music.
